Paraguay's National Treasure (In Memoriam)

I met Oscar Centurion, perhaps fifteen years ago, here in Washington, DC. He was a well-known figure in political spheres in this town. He knew everyone worth knowing at the IDB, the OAS, and the World Bank as well as US Senators and DC mayors. Oscar was an amazing, charismatic individual that glowed with knowledge, wit, and art in all its forms. He was a passionate artist who cared so very much for his native Paraguay.

Whether in Washington, DC, Venice, Rome, Paris, Lima, Mexico City, or São Paulo, he was a tireless champion of Paraguay and its artists. He was Paraguay’s national treasure. He was also my friend, and I will miss him and his ideas and his intellect. God bless his soul.
